I have been on the ground in Laos for just over 30 days, and I must say I love the place! Luang Prabang is this quiet but thriving town of old world charm, tourism, delicious tastes and friendly sounds. Its people are friendly and courteous, and I am surrounded by amazing new friends.
Samara (my daughter) and I have been working as volunteers with Destiny Rescue, an organisation that rescues children out of sexual exploitation. The stories are incredibly heart breaking and sad, but the difference this organisation is making in young girls lives is so empowering! Girls aged between 11-16 are being rescued, they are traumatised and anxious, and yet we get to see them change into funny, relaxed kids while we teach them English, art and dance/physical education. We are so honoured to be apart of this time with them all…
I have also been working on a Conservation Centre project. In the first week on the ground here in Luang Prabang 100 Acres of land came to my attention with the possibility of a possible business partnership to use the land, maybe, all going well, this could be the start of an amazing Conservation Centre.
This Conservation Centre would include an International Research Centre, Education Centre, a Wildlife Hospital and Quarantine Centre, and a Wildlife Sanctuary. All in aid of ‘Saving wildlife and the environment while raising the health and well being of people internationally!’
Can you imagine what this type of project would do for Laos?
Education, Training, Employment, Tourism Growth, new ways in Wildlife and Environmental Management, ground breaking Conservation developments, Sustainability, an amazing and completely new way of wildlife sanctuary care and management, and don’t forget the Documentary Series that will market the project internationally!
I personally can’t help but think big, but the bigger I think the more I know people will get behind me and move to make it all possible. I don’t know if or how I can make this happen but I ask that you send me positive thoughts, prayers and love as I relate the overall objectives for this project and the brighter future of Laos’s wildlife, environment and human health.
Thanks everyone, I’ll keep you updated.
